Green Tree Python

Now it's time to show you a beautifull pair of Green Tree Pythons (Morelia viridis) - These two live in beautifull surroundings in Oslo, Norway - Named Monty and Modesty by their owner

These snakes are originally from Indonesia, Northern Australia and Papua New-Guinea. They grow to 120-200 cm, and are an arboreal species, living in rainforests.

They start out as either red or yellow, and as they grow they gradually get greener, until they are about 1-2 years old, and are fully green (or in some cases green and yellow) They can also have beatifull blue and white markings, depending on which locality they are from.

On all these shots I used my old Nikon D300, on the first shots with a macro lens - On the last shot I used a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 (@ 48mm).

Satanic Leaf-tailed Gecko

Continuing to post pictures from the archives - This time a fantastic little critter (literally). The Satanic Leaf-tailed Gecko (Uroplatus phantasticus)

A rather small gecko, app 7-15 cm in overall length. They are endemic to Madagascar.
Take a close look at their tails, a near perfect mimic to a dead fig leaf.

All the pictures are of captive specimens, the 3 first ones in Oslo, Norway. The last one in a private park on Madagascar.
